A Note About Screen Time

We know many parents worry about screen time — rightly so. Here’s our honest position:

Adaptive math practice on a screen is not the same as watching YouTube. It’s active, demanding work that requires focus and problem-solving. But it’s still a screen. And if you have the capacity to teach the same concept at a kitchen table with physical objects, that’s probably better for a young child’s development.

That’s why we don’t lock our worksheets behind a paywall or require signup. If your family’s approach is “screen-free math at home, use the app only when needed” — we think that’s great, and we’ll support it.

Our Actual Belief

We’re a small Ontario-based team. We built MapleMath because we saw that the Ontario curriculum is rigorous and many kids need extra practice — but we also saw that existing tools either don’t align to the Ontario curriculum or try too hard to replace the humans in a child’s life.

Our belief is simple:

The best math education happens when a caring human is supported by smart tools — not replaced by them.

AI should tell you what to teach. Worksheets should give you the material. But the teaching? That’s yours. And it’s the most important part.
